How to set static IP in Windows 10

Step 1:
Right-click on the Network Connections icon located on the system tray, then click on Open Network and Sharing Center.

Step 2:
Click Change adapter settings.

Step 3:
Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and click on Properties.

Step 4:
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then, click on Properties.

Step 5:
Select Use the following IP address option and enter the necessary information in the IP addressSubnet mask and Default gateway fields.

NOTE:  The Default gateway is your router’s local IP address.
 

Step 6:
Select Use the following DNS server addresses option and then, enter the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server addresses, which are obtained from yourInternet Service Provider (ISP).

Step 7:
Click OK.

How to set static IP in Mac OS

Step 1:
Click the Apple icon then select the System Preferences… option.

Step 2:
Under Internet & Wireless, select Network.

Step 3:
Click the Advanced… button when the Network screen appears.  The default Location is Automatic.

Step 4:
Click TCP/IP.

Step 5:
From the Configure IPv4 drop-down list, select Manually.

Step 6:
Enter your IP settings in the required fields.

NOTE:  Make sure that the IP address you’ll be assigning the computer has the same first three (3) numbers as the Default Gateway and the last digit can be any number between 2 and 99.

In this example, the Router or Default Gateway used is 192.168.1.1, the IPv4 Address is 192.168.1.50, and the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0.

Step 7:
Click OK.
